Investigation of the suitability of existing structures for proposed modifications

Assessment of the loading capacity of floors

Assessment of the requirements for installing heavy equipment such as safes or machinery

Assessment of the safe working load of lifting beams

Investigation of the causes of cracking in masonry or concrete elements of buildings

Investigation of the causes of movement in buildings

Investigation of the causes of water ingress into buildings, particularly from the ground
Assessment of the suitability of fixings used to support elements of cladding or finishes

Assessment of the requirements to accommodate modifications to building services

Assessment of the requirements to accommodate modifications of finishes and other building fittings

Assessment of the adequacy of information describing existing buildings

Assessment of elements of buildings which may be affected by adverse characteristics of their type and time of construction (eg Alkali Aggregate Reaction, High Alumina Cement, inadequate provision for progressive collapse)

Investigation of the suitability of subsoil for the site use. Including contamination and gas emission
 
The Practice can offer advice on the implications of the findings of any of the above investigations and make, where appropriate, recommendations to improve or remedy unsatisfactory situations.
